CRS standard – successes and details

Brazil –  ‘Currently three farms of the Bom Jesus’ farms, with a combined acreage of well over 36,000 hectares, are certified against the standard of the Roundtable of Responsible Soy (RTRS). A milestone reached in 2019! In order to become RTRS-certified they chose to initially go for certification against the CRS standard. With Bom Jesus taking this step-wise approach it sees its vision materialize in the real world.’

Paraguay – ‘Payco has a sustainability department that has the responsibility to identify the needs of local communities and to develop the corresponding projects; always looking for opportunities to reduce the environmental impact of the production. Our company has a strong social commitment, and thanks to the CRS program we identified some opportunities for further improvements.

The sustainability department of Payco also has experience with additional certifications like the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) for forest management, and recently moved towards RTRS-certification for our soybean production, thanks to the partnership with Cefetra.’

PARAGUAY AGRICULTURAL CORPORATION (PAYCO)

Argentina – La Biznaga S.A., part of the Ledesma Group, is an agricultural company with approximately 65.000 hectares of farm land. The company recognizes the need to implement responsible agricultural practices in order to live in harmony with the surrounding environment and society.

By means of certifying four of their farms, the company is able to demonstrate this commitment to sustainability to external parties. One of these farms has 4.000 hectares of natural forest with 120 bird species that  has been declared protected. Another project with a positive environmental impact is the reduction of erosion by means of establishing systematic terraces covering 20.000 hectares.
